How to use AVIF to JPG

    1. Choose AVIF images

Select up to 20 AVIF files. Your browser must be able to decode the particular file.

    2. Choose JPEG settings

Adjust quality and select a background color for any transparent areas.

    3. Convert to JPG

Select Convert images, inspect the output size and colors, and download individual JPEGs or a ZIP.

After checking encoded dimensions, the native browser decoder opens the AVIF. The decoded image is drawn to a canvas and saved as JPEG.

    Limits

AVIF decoding depends on browser and file support. Animation becomes a still image. HDR, wide-gamut color and original metadata are not preserved reliably.

Files are processed sequentially. Keep this tab open and use smaller images if your phone runs low on memory. Camera orientation is requested from the native decoder; TIFF orientation is applied explicitly. Metadata is not copied.

When is an AVIF to JPEG conversion useful?

An AVIF image may not be accepted by an older editor, upload form, or document workflow. A JPEG copy can make a still image easier to use in systems that expect .jpg files. The original AVIF is worth keeping if you need its original encoding and color information.

Changing the format is not a quality upgrade. The tool decodes the AVIF, then applies JPEG compression at your selected quality. The JPG can be larger than the AVIF because the two formats encode image data differently.

    Browser support, transparency, and color

This converter uses your browser’s native AVIF decoder. Support depends on both the browser and the file variant. A failed decode produces an error on your device; the file is not sent to another conversion service as a fallback.

JPEG cannot preserve transparency, so transparent areas take the chosen background color. Animation becomes a still image. HDR and wide-gamut colors may change during canvas conversion, and source metadata is not copied. Use specialist software for color-critical or HDR work.

    Troubleshooting your conversion

    • If decoding is unsupported, try a browser that can open the same AVIF file.
    • If colors change, compare with the original and avoid this workflow for color-critical output.
    • If you need a maximum file size, use the image compressor rather than quality adjustment alone.

    Image privacy and visit analytics

Your image bytes are read and converted on this device, without uploading. Google Analytics measures visits and tool activity and may use cookies. Our custom tool events contain the tool name and format, never filenames or image data. Choosing new files or leaving the page clears the current results.

AVIF to JPG: frequently asked questions

Why does a file fail to convert?

Your browser may lack AVIF support or the file may use an unsupported variant. The tool shows an error instead of sending it to a server.

    Will transparency remain?

No. JPEG uses the selected solid background.

    Can it preserve HDR?

No. Canvas conversion may change color or tone; use specialist software for color-critical work.

Does this tool install a decoder?

No. AVIF uses native browser decoding, with no third-party conversion service.
