Compress Image to 100KB
Choose a size limit. Quality is reduced first; dimensions are reduced only when needed.
How to use Compress Image to 100KB
- Select your image
Choose JPG, JPEG, PNG, or a browser-decodable AVIF image.
- Choose the maximum size
Keep 100 KB selected or choose 20, 50, 200, or 500 KB. These targets use 1 KB = 1,000 bytes.
- Compress and check the result
Select Convert images. Inspect the final byte size and dimensions before downloading and submitting the file.
The tool checks encoded JPEG sizes while searching for the highest tested quality under your limit. If quality alone is insufficient, it reduces dimensions and tries again.
Limits
Output is always JPEG with a white background. Here, 1 KB means 1000 bytes. Dimensions may shrink substantially, and an unreachable target is reported honestly.
Files are processed sequentially. Keep this tab open and use smaller images if your phone runs low on memory. Camera orientation is requested from the native decoder; TIFF orientation is applied explicitly. Metadata is not copied.
How to reduce an image below 100 KB
The compressor tests JPEG quality at the original dimensions first. It chooses the highest tested quality that fits the selected maximum size. If adjusting quality is not enough, it reduces the image dimensions and tests again.
The goal is a file at or below 100,000 bytes for the 100 KB preset, rather than a file padded to exactly 100 KB. A result may be smaller than your target. If the target cannot be reached within the conversion limits, the result carries a warning; verify the actual size rather than assuming success.
Check upload rules as well as file size
Application forms may specify an image width, height, aspect ratio, and format alongside their size limit. Meeting a 100 KB limit does not guarantee that the form accepts the result. Compare the downloaded image’s dimensions with the form’s instructions.
Every result from this tool is JPEG. Transparent PNG or AVIF areas become white, and source metadata is not copied. If you need a transparent logo or an exact screenshot, keep the original and consider whether the receiving service allows another format.
| Preset | Maximum bytes | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 20 KB | 20,000 | JPEG |
| 50 KB | 50,000 | JPEG |
| 100 KB | 100,000 | JPEG |
| 200 KB | 200,000 | JPEG |
| 500 KB | 500,000 | JPEG |
Troubleshooting your conversion
- If the image becomes too small or blurry, choose a higher limit when the receiving service allows it.
- If a website rejects the result, check its required dimensions and file format as well as its size.
- If AVIF decoding fails, try an exported PNG or JPEG copy in the same compressor.
Image privacy and visit analytics
Your image bytes are read and converted on this device, without uploading. Google Analytics measures visits and tool activity and may use cookies. Our custom tool events contain the tool name and format, never filenames or image data. Choosing new files or leaving the page clears the current results.

Compress Image to 100KB: frequently asked questions
Is the result always exactly 100 KB?
No. It aims for at most your target, rather than padding a file to an exact size.
Will dimensions change?
Only if JPEG quality adjustment at the original dimensions cannot reach the target.
Can I use the result for an application form?
Check both its actual byte size and the form’s required dimensions. Meeting the size alone may not be enough.
Which formats can I select?
JPEG, PNG and browser-decodable AVIF. All results use JPEG.
