How to use SVG to PNG

    1. Select a self-contained SVG

Choose an SVG drawing that does not depend on external fonts, images, or scripts.

    2. Set scale and background

Choose 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x. Leave Add background unchecked to keep transparency.

    3. Convert and inspect

Select Convert images, check the reported PNG dimensions, and download your raster copy.

The SVG is parsed as an inert XML document and checked before being decoded as an image. Its width, height and viewBox determine the output size; your scale multiplies it.

    Limits

Scripts, event handlers, embedded images, foreignObject, filters, animation and style elements are rejected. External references cannot be loaded. Text uses locally available fonts.

Files are processed sequentially. Keep this tab open and use smaller images if your phone runs low on memory. Camera orientation is requested from the native decoder; TIFF orientation is applied explicitly. Metadata is not copied.

How SVG scale changes PNG dimensions

SVG describes a drawing that can be rendered at different sizes. PNG is a raster image with a fixed pixel width and height. This converter uses the SVG’s dimensions or viewBox, then multiplies them by your selected scale.

For example, a viewBox-only SVG measuring 120 × 80 becomes a 240 × 160 PNG at 2x, or 480 × 320 at 4x. A higher scale creates more pixels, so it also uses more memory. Reduce the scale if the result exceeds the pixel or side-length limits.

    Transparent exports and self-contained drawings

Leave Add background off for a PNG with transparency. Turn it on and choose a color when you need a solid background. The output is a still raster image; it does not retain the editable vector paths of the SVG.

The tool rejects scripts, external references, embedded images, style elements, filters, and some advanced SVG features. Text uses fonts available on your device and may differ from the original editor. For a complex drawing, export a simpler SVG with the text converted to paths in your design application.

    Troubleshooting your conversion

    • For a rejected SVG, remove unsupported elements in the original editor rather than renaming the file.
    • If text changes appearance, use a locally available font or convert text to paths before export.
    • If a large scale fails, retry at 1x or 2x.

    Image privacy and visit analytics

Your image bytes are read and converted on this device, without uploading. Google Analytics measures visits and tool activity and may use cookies. Our custom tool events contain the tool name and format, never filenames or image data. Choosing new files or leaving the page clears the current results.

SVG to PNG: frequently asked questions

How is the PNG size chosen?

Explicit SVG dimensions are used, with viewBox proportions as a fallback. A viewBox-only SVG uses its viewBox dimensions; otherwise the fallback is 300 × 150.

    Does 8x always work?

Only when the scaled output fits the pixel and dimension limits. Larger drawings need a lower scale.

Can I load an SVG with a linked font or image?

No. External resources and embedded image elements are rejected for safety.

Can I keep a transparent background?

Yes. Leave “Add background” unchecked; enable it to flatten the drawing onto your chosen color.
