PNG to JPG Converter
Make a smaller JPEG copy of your PNG. Choose the background and quality before converting.
How to use PNG to JPG
- Select PNG images
Use Choose Files to select up to 20 PNGs from your device.
- Set background and quality
Choose the color that will replace transparent areas. Start at 85% JPEG quality and adjust if needed.
- Convert and download
Select Convert images, compare the reported output size and dimensions, and download individual JPGs or a ZIP.
Select PNG files, choose a background color and JPEG quality, then convert. Transparent pixels are flattened onto that background.
Limits
Only PNG input is accepted. JPEG uses lossy compression and cannot preserve transparency or animation.
Files are processed sequentially. Keep this tab open and use smaller images if your phone runs low on memory. Camera orientation is requested from the native decoder; TIFF orientation is applied explicitly. Metadata is not copied.
When should you convert PNG to JPG?
A PNG to JPG converter is useful when a website accepts JPEG photographs or when a large PNG photo needs a more compact copy. JPG and JPEG refer to the same image format; the files here use the .jpg extension.
JPEG can reduce the size of photographic images, but a smaller file is not guaranteed. Logos, diagrams, and text screenshots may look sharper and sometimes remain smaller as PNG. Keep the PNG original if you need clean edges or transparency.
Choose the right background and JPEG quality
JPEG has no transparent pixels. A transparent PNG is placed over the background color you select, with white as the default. Choose a color that matches the surface where you plan to display the image, especially around antialiased edges.
Higher quality usually retains more detail and produces a larger file. Lower quality can introduce visible blocks or halos around text. This converter does not resize your PNG to reach a target size; use the image compressor when an upload has a maximum number of kilobytes.
| Property | PNG input | JPG result |
|---|---|---|
| Transparency | Can contain transparent pixels | Replaced by your chosen color |
| Compression | Lossless image encoding | Lossy JPEG encoding |
| Dimensions | Original pixel dimensions | Retained within the tool limits |
| Animation and metadata | May be present | Still image; metadata not copied |
Troubleshooting your conversion
- If the background looks wrong, choose a different color and convert the original PNG again.
- If fine text looks blurred, increase JPEG quality or keep the original PNG.
- For an upload limit such as 100 KB, use the compressor and check its final byte size.
Image privacy and visit analytics
Your image bytes are read and converted on this device, without uploading. Google Analytics measures visits and tool activity and may use cookies. Our custom tool events contain the tool name and format, never filenames or image data. Choosing new files or leaving the page clears the current results.
